Abigail's 2nd Birthday!!

Our baby is 2!! Friday we had a little friend party, which was really cute, though she wanted to be more of an observer than a participant. But she did enjoy watching her friends, and LOVED her ice cream cone (it was her first!!) and cupcake.
Saturday, Nate was home so we took it easy, let her open presents 3 times throughout the day, took her swimming, and let her just hang out and play with her new gifts. She seemed plenty happy with that, so I'm thinking we may put off the bigger parties till 3rd birthdays!!
We're so grateful to have her, with her funny sense of humor, loving ways, bright eyes and lively spirit. She brings us constant joy and entertainment, gives endless hugs and kisses, and I really can't imagine us being so happy without her.
We love you Sweet Pea!!

Spring Adventures

We've had some really fun adventures already this spring. From picnics, bike rides, playgrounds to swimming, this year we're definitely taking advantage of, and getting to enjoy what Ruston has to offer, and having a great time while doing so.
We need family and friends to visit more now that we have more places to take them! hint, hint ;)  We're even going to attempt camping in the next week or so during Nate's break!! Can't wait!! :)

Family Pictures 2010

Our friend Christine took our family pictures.  It was a lot of fun, and we're really happy with her work!!

April 2010

April had a variety of adventures: First off, I got released from Cub Scouts, and am now the 2nd Counselor for Primary. Luckily we have about 25 primary age kids total, so I'm excited to work with them (and a bit less intimidated since I grew up in a big ward with lots of kids!).
We had a fun Easter, and it's so fun with Abby getting older and enjoying it more than last year :)
This month we caved and bought a bike trailer which has given us fabulous opportunities to get out more, and more importantly give me some fun exercise and Abby an adventure to break our normal mundane routines. We have a great friend with 2 darling kids that we've been able to go with, and have loved it every time. I'll have to get pics for future posts.
On the 24th we headed to Baton Rouge for our ward's annual temple trip. It was such a neat experience, though this time, the Primary presidency was in charge of keeping all the younger kids occupied so their parents could attend one of two sessions. Nate was a great help, we didn't lose anyone, and were able to make it a fun and somewhat spiritual experience for them. I consider that a Huge success :)
One big change for us, which is cheesy for me to even post about, is that we bought our first lawnmower! Gently used, but in great shape, and will save us a ton on lawn care. It was really exciting, lol. The last big event to end April with is that we weaned Abby off her binkie! She got over it pretty quickly and it's been so nice to have it gone! :)

March 2010

This month has been really beautiful and despite a few drastic dips in the highs and lows, it's been an overall ideal month and we thoroughly enjoyed our bright pink tree for a week or two.
We had opportunities to pet-sit both a cat and puppy (different weeks), and although I liked and preferred the cat, my allergies started driving me crazy, so I was really disappointed to learn that we'll never own an indoor cat. The puppy was fun, and Abby had a blast with it, but it was sooo much work! I'm so glad I learned the easy way that I'm not ready to own one just yet. We did get some fun pics though :)
A huge highlight was that my friend Sara came out to visit for a week, and we made a fun road trip down to New Orleans, it was sooo fun!! I have lots of pics of that :)

'Nike.' Cute little thing. He was fun to tend and both lit up Abby's day and also wore her out well - maybe we do want a dog after all...

Our New Orleans Trip:
A cute and creepy cemetery we found along the way

The drive south was beautiful

We had to make a quick stop in Natchitoches for fried green tomatoes and alligator bits

Abby was a great little traveler

A BEAUTIFUL plantation home we saw along the way
(someday I want a driveway with trees that line the path like this!!)

Our awesome hotel that Sara found - it used to be a huge coffee warehouse!

We loved it!

One of the neat old cemeteries in town

One of the beautiful residential roads

Abby was such a goof that night, and so hilarious, we had to get pics

Jackson Square

This is how Abby fell asleep while we were sightseeing

MMMmmm... Gumbo :)

The St. Louis #1 Cemetery. It was a fun "haunted tour" :)

By taking the wrong tour bus on our first day there, we learned all about the city, it's history, culture, and how it was affected by Katrina. It was really interesting, and we were amazed at how well the city looked and felt after only 5 years. This was a rare sight - it obviously hasn't had repairs begin yet, but it gave us a better idea of how things would have looked back then.
It was such a fun trip, thanks Sara!! Now I can't wait to go back with Nate :)
